<aside> ⚠️ Unreal Engine 5.1 has display issues about mapped focus value when both LivelinkComponentController and LensComponent are assigned a lens file. You may need to clear lens file on LivelinkComponentController but keep the one on LensComponent before you add data point to existing focus mapping to get correct Raw FIZ input value. Don’t forget to add it back when you finish mapping data.

  1. Open a Lens File by clicking it in Content Browser panel.

  2. Select the Lens File Panel panel, towards the bottom in the Lens Evaluation panel**,** check that Tracked Camera has “CineCameraActor”, and Selected Livelink Subject has your Rover listed**.** Check if the Focus rotation value in Raw FIZ Input > Focus is live by rotating the focus ring on the camera. We can proceed to mapping a lens curve for the lens encoder data.

  3. To add a lens data point, select Focus and then click “+” button**.**

  4. In the Add Lens Data Point window, make sure the Focus value is 0.

<aside> <img src="/icons/light-bulb_orange.svg" alt="/icons/light-bulb_orange.svg" width="40px" /> TIP: If the Focus value is not zero, make sure the focus ring is at its minimum position. Then reset the external lens encoder to zero. (For Indiemark 2, simply press the reset button.)

  5. Check the Lens markings to identify the associated focus distance and assign the distance to the **Encoder mapping (**For this example, the value of ****22 cm from the Lens is inputed into the Encoder Mapping field). Click “Add” button to input the lens data point.

  6. In the graph hover over the datapoint (green triangle) to check the entry was entered. If the data is incorrect, clicking and dragging the point up or down can change the values.

  7. For the next lens data point, rotate the focus ring to the next marking. (For this example, 26 is entered into Encoder Mapping field.)

  8. Repeat steps 2-6 for all the remaining points until the lens curve is defined. Press Save to save the Lens File.

  9. Rotate focus ring on the lens to double check curve smoothness. Apply tangents to curve points to smooth out the transition.
